“Take my hand”
Embark on a sensory exploration with the Sol Jang International Project. An international trio formed by Sol Jang(Piano) with Jort Terwijn(Double Bass), and Max Hering(Drum). This dynamic ensemble merges lyrical jazz, free improvisation, and traditional jazz harmonies, inviting listeners into Jang’s musical world. Born in Seoul, and inspired by her global experiences, Jang’s compositions paint vivid soundscapes. With recognition as a three-time jazz competition finalist and global performance, Sol Jang International Project is a journey through sound and emotion.

The Trio has already played in the Netherlands, Germany, the USA, Romania, Latvia, Morocco, South Korea and Hungary.

 Die Eigenkompositionen Jangs sind sehr stimmungsvoll, ohne zu gefällig zu werden, oft verarbeitet sie damit emotionale Erlebnisse, wie sie erzählte. Daher mag rühren, dass sie Balladen bevorzugt und bei diesen häufig den Dreivierteltakt. Die zwei geswingten Bebop-Nummern und auch ein Stück mit Jazzrock-Groove sorgten für geschickt eingestreute Abwechslung.
Ganz klassisch lag die Führung in diesem Trio bei der Pianistin. Anerkennender Applaus für die Band, deren Entwicklung man durchaus verfolgen sollte.

‌‌Mit dem Sol Jang International Project stellte sich dem Krefelder Jazzpublikum ein junges Trio vor, das schon seinen eigenen Ausdruck gefunden hat. Sol Jang (1992) studierte Jazz an der Philadelphia University of Arts und am ArtEZ-Konservatorium in Arnheim. Ergänzt durch Lukas Keller und Hendrik Eichler an Bass und Schlagzeug entsteht eine musikalische Sprache, die trotz jugendlicher Frische und großem Experimentierwillen bestechend reif formuliert ist.

Sol Jang plays with a very high degree of technique on the piano. Bass and drums are very tight, the song spaces produced to allow for good interaction and afford the trio a clear musical maturity on this straight-ahead jazz that shows much passion and a song structure whose chord schemes are woven with disciplined phrasing and at the same time joyful playing.
